P1 - Gari Beidner - Final

Post by garibeidner »

When first entering the Galileo Museum of Science, the pair of glasses immediately struck my attention. At the age of four I found out that I needed glasses and have needed to wear them ever since. Finding the “right” pair has never been an easy task. Once I had a pair I liked, I never wanted to change them. Understanding the importance of the “perfect pair of glasses” is not a foreign concept to me. As for when the opportunity arose for me to design my own company/product inspired by my time at the museum, this was a no brainer.

Although there are many glasses options wherever you go, my brand is customizable and specific to the city of Florence as the city is incorporated into every design. The city of the renaissance is filled with art and beauty. These depictions I was able to convey on the arms of the glasses. Each arm captures a different core sight of Florence. Whether it is a snapshot of a design on the duomo, the arches of the Ponte Vecchio, façade of Santa Maria Novella, or the Baptistry doors, all make for beautiful designs for the temple of eyewear.

In the end, I chose to display my designs in catalog form as that is the most efficient and effective way to display the product. Each pair of glasses focuses on comfort and accuracy of vision (as that is the most critical part of a pair of glasses). Eventually, I hope to move this catalog model to an online format in which one can physically select the glasses of their choosing.
